This month the PTA will have some exciting new programs focusing on nutrition and fitness for our preschoolers!
The PTA is excited to kick off our ”1st Tastings” on October 3. The first Thursday of each month we will provide a small tasting of a fresh fruit or vegetable to our preschoolers. This month we are excited to offer fresh pears from the Lynd Fruit Farm! PTA volunteers will be in the cafeteria to hand out a taste to participating classrooms. If your child takes snack in their classroom we will make sure they receive a taste as well! Also please note that any allergy or food restrictions currently in place in your child’s classroom will continue to be followed by our teachers.
We all know exercise is important for strong healthy bodies and want to help instill a love of activity in our little ones while keeping it fun. Starting in October kids can help track their activity and collect charms each month for participating. Keep in mind that everything from playground time, a walk around the grocery with mom or dad, helping with chores around the house or a bike ride around the neighborhood count toward these activity goals — our students get at least 20 minutes of activity at school! It should be fun above all else and hopefully the kids enjoy tracking their goals and earning their charms! Start keeping track on your calendar now! If any other family members want to keep track and earn charms, please send in $5 to Sutter Park PTA per family member, for the school year. Even moms could use a little motivation! : )
There is also a flyer on the flip side of the activity sheet to recognize healthy snack contributions from parents. The effort put forward by parents for Thursday and Friday snack days is greatly appreciated and we wanted to find a fun way to recognize snacks that are whole grain, lower sugar, fresh fruits/vegetables or healthy protein. If your family provided a healthy snack to the classroom this month, return the completed slip and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a special prize! Be sure to tell us your healthy snack ideas!
Please contact Melinda Evans at firstname.lastname@example.org for questions or if you would like to become involved in this PTA effort.
